Dissertation writing help - Attributes and influences of experiential immersion courses that contribute to learning
I need Custom Dissertation Writing Service on attributes and influences of experiential immersion courses that contribute to learning: Lessons from courses on past and present civil rights movements
Immersion courses in civil rights, focusing on visiting sites and meeting people involved in the United States 1950s and 1960s civil rights movement, have proliferated on college campuses in the last two decades (Brinkley, 2003). These courses are costly, staff intensive and time intensive. Institutions fund them because they are viewed as powerful means for educating students about social justice issues, though there has been little research about how this unique form of experiential immersion contributes to meaningful learning for students. The current study attempts to recognize, from the perspective of students, the "best practices" of these forms of experiential learning courses. The animating research questions are: What are the influences on learning for students from these experiential immersion courses on past and present Civil Rights Movements? What is that program individuality that contributes to meaningful learning for students? Through interviewing the cohorts of four separate immersion classes on civil rights, utilizing a qualitative research methodology, the proposed study explains and evaluates the value inherent in experiential classes like these. The results will be of importance to researchers, faculty and administrators in higher education in their continued efforts to educate about social justice.
