With two FPGA-bots facing each other, develop a serial communications protocol using the IR LEDs and sensors. Assume the serial data is fixed in length and always starts with a known pattern at a fixed clock rate. The IR LEDs are pulsed at around 40kHz and the sensor has a 40kHz filter, so this will limit the bandwidth to a few kHz. Transmit the 8-bit value from the Cyclone DIP switches and display the value in the receiving FPGA-bot seven-segment LED displays. Display the raw IR sensor input in the decimal point LED to aid in debugging and alignment.
