Project Assignment

You team has been asked to create disaster recovery plan (DRP) for an organization that the group selects. Because extensive research is required, please make sure to select a real organization. The group will focus on a Retail company with Sales, Regions, Territories, Credit Card Transactions, and eCommerce. The organization may have a manufacturing component to build certain products. Ensure to cover the systems, resources, and databases used by the organization. You will need to use an example database to outline the customer, transactional, an employee data. All application and databases servers are stored on premise at the location.

Develop the project charter for the initiative. Use template in folder.

DRP Plan

Research DRP in the area before you start. It will also be good to review DRP templates to ensure you cover all areas. Each group will have unique document created for the selected organization.

The DRP must contain the following:

Introduction

Include name and background of the organization. The group will also need to discuss the business model, revenue, vendors, suppliers, and market.

Background

Identify the types of disasters that can affect this organization.

Identification of employees and where they are located - include facilities.

Inventory of hardware, database, and software, and Client/Server. Include a diagram and infrastructure. The group can create the diagram with MS Visio.

Creation of a communications management plan - ensure there is enough detail.

Discussion of action to take when an emergency occurs (i.e., cold site, warm site, and hot site (SLAs) and contracts.

Discussion regarding how sensitive information will be handled.

Discussion pertaining to how the plan will be tested.

Evaluation of Disaster Recovery software.

Training for key employees and department.

Team, Resources, certifications, locations.

Budget and Costs.

Cover how you will get top management involvement in the creation and testing of the plan.
