Assignment task:

There are two trials happening at the City of Purpose.

In Courtroom A, Judge Smith is presiding over a civil case, in which Mark North is suing Dr. Box for practicing without a license when he conducted a heart transplant on Mr. North. The plaintiff's attorney introduced the Los Angeles Times dated June 5, 2019. Thereafter, the plaintiff's attorney calls Mr. Allen, a witness. Mr. Allen testifies that he saw the whole thing. On cross-examination, defense counsel shouts, "Do you think this jury is composed of idiots? You really expect them to believe your lie?

Instructions for Courtroom A:

Discuss 1) whether the newspaper and 2) remarks by defense counsel in Courtroom A are admissible.

In Courtroom B, Judge Learner is presiding over a civil case, in which Kelly Braun is suing Kyle McCommark for personal injuries that she received in an auto accident. Lawless Smith is representing Kelly and is uncertain if he can introduce the following:

A statement after the accident in which Kyle McCommark said, "It's my fault."

A statement by Kyle shouting, "Oh no this is awful," which he yelled upon seeing the injuries inflicted on Kelly.

Kyle McCormack's statement that he would pay for any medical expenses.
