Problem:
Respond briefly to this discussion thread: This concept is interesting to me, especially with the last election and people's opinions forming around that. I don't think that our country is at a point to experience a true rebellion against the federal government. We've seen actions such as inauguration day where a number of people protested the election results and stormed the capital, however I don't see that as a true rebellion against the federal government. Individual states did not organize the actions that occurred on that day and there was no public campaign uniting states in connection to the events. Was it ridiculous? Yes. Was it justified? No. Was it an actual organized rebellion? Also no. To me, a rebellion is a large majority of people coming together and taking action to meet specific goals. I think something like a ban on firearms, nationwide abortion bans, massive tax increases is what it would take to truly raise a rebellion. It would need the support of multiple states too in which the state governments were involved with making decisions against the federal government. I think it's very possible that we see this in my lifetime, but we aren't at a point where anything on the magnitude of what happened in 1775 would happen currently. At least thats my opinion.
