This article discusses the recent overturning of Roe v. Wade and goes over the outcomes of this decision. The decision resulted in abortion procedures being banned in more than half of the states that make up the United States and holds severe punishments against violators. Punishments include but are not limited to life sentences in prison. Denying or delaying a person seeking a safe abortion and continuing a forced continuation of pregnancy falls under both discrimination against women and gender based violence. I chose this article to support my thesis because it delves into the violation of rights that the decision presents and highlights the emotional, psychological and physical repercussions that the seeker is forced to face.
