The classical style reflects the Enlightenment ideals of "pleasing variety" and "natural simplicity." How and why does the music of Haydn and Mozart demonstrate this classical ideal? Represented by both Haydn and Mozart, how many movements does the Classical symphony have? What are the characteristics of each movement? Make sure to listen to a piece of Classical Music from one of these composers, list the title and movement, and discuss what you hear in the melody; harmony; texture; instruments; etc. or
The term "Classical Music" is still used today to refer to music that is not classified as either popular music (Rock, R&B, Hip Hop, Country) or Folk Music. Discuss why you think this periodic term is still used to refer to music other than mentioned above? Make sure to listen to a piece of Classical Music from one Haydn or Mozart, listing the title and movement, and discuss what you hear in the melody; harmony; texture; instruments; etc. How are these musical elements (possibly) different from modern music of today?
