Discussion Post
Thinking back to the many things you have learned in this course about the roles, responsibilities, and challenges of a community health worker (CHW), discuss what community organizing now means to you and how the five steps of the community action model (CAM) can be used by a community health worker to facilitate change in the community.
The community action model involves a 5-step process: (i) skill-based training, in which community advocates select an area of focus; (ii) action research, in which advocates define, design, and conduct a community diagnosis; (iii) analysis, in which advocates assess the results of the community diagnosis and prepare findings; (iv) policy development, in which advocates select, plan, and implement an environmental change action and educational activities intended to support it; and (v) implementation, in which advocates seek to ensure that the policy outcome is enforced and maintained.
The response must include a reference list. Using Times New Roman 12 pnt font, double-space, one-inch margins, and APA style of writing and citations.
