You should refer to two or three sources on your chosen topic from any medium (writing, film, speech or image). You will also be expected to accurately use rhetorical terminoloy . YOU NEED TO IDENTIFY LOGOS, PATHOS AND ETHOS.
Description:
This SWT is the first stage in developing your Final Essay. You should display:
1. TOPIC and SCOPE:Using rhetorical invention technique(s) discussed in the unit, decide on a topic you are interested in --> Burqa Ban . This could be an event, a debate, a controversy, an advertising campaign, political cartoon, a speech, or media commentary as long as you can present an argument based on a rhetorical analysis of the sources.
2. DISCOVERY and ANALYSIS:Use rhetorical analysis technique(s) discussed in the unit to identify the main speakers/authors/voices on the topic, what their arguments are, who their audience is, the rhetorical situation, etc.
3. REASON IN ‘OPPOSING DIRECTIONS' SIMULTANEOUSLY:Use rhetorical analysis to identify at least two different arguments or points of view on your topic and begin to evaluate these differing points of view

By successfully completing this task, you will:
o Use appropriate tools and methods to acquire and evaluate knowledge through independent research
o Exercise critical judgement and critical thinking to create understanding
o Use a modality other than essay/exam writing to show an enhanced ability to communicate in academic English
