This unit discussed the recruitment process used by many police departments. There will be two parts to this assignment. You will submit both parts in the same Word document.
Part I
There are several important stages within the police officer recruitment process that are listed below:
- physical agility,
- written examination,
- background checks,
- training academy,
- field training, and
- polygraph examination.
Each stage of the recruitment process is important and provides law enforcement recruiters with vital information concerning a recruit's qualifications. You will discuss each stage and provide the information that will be collected from that process.
Part II
In your opinion, which is the most important stage in the recruitment process? Why? Which stage is the least important? Why? What additional factors could be added to the recruitment process that might help with officer retention rates? How might you apply this knowledge to a future professional role that you could have in law enforcement?
Your reflection paper should be a minimum of two pages in length, not counting the title or reference pages. Please use APA Style when developing this assignment. References will be required for all sources that are used. Please note that no abstract is needed.
