Problem: Of course, the Pre-Socratic philosophers were primarily interested in understanding the natural world without resorting to myth-making. Socrates, on the other hand, is said to have brought philosophy down 'from the heavens' to concentrate on more human affairs. Suppose you and your classmates were trying to design a democracy that would take into consideration Socrates' criticism of 'rule by the people.' What would your proposals be and why? How much would our current practice of democracy have to change to avoid the perils Socrates was warning against?
