I. Illinois has a long history of human impacts, beginning with the Native Americans and continuing unabated until the present day. Describe how the Illinois landscape has changed from the end of the Pleistocene until today. Be sure to discuss the impacts of Native American and European colonial land use, as well as the impacts of modern agricultural practices and urbanization.
II. COVID-19 or SARS-CoV-2 began as a wildlife disease. Discuss the origins of this disease and its predecessor, SARS-CoV-1. What human-induced factors contributed to the emergence and spread of these and other wildlife diseases? What can be done to mitigate the risk of future outbreaks?
