Problem: For this exercise choose a roommate, best friend, or significant other and draw their kinship chart. The kinship chart should include kin terms, not the names of the individuals included on the chart. If the charts reveal kin categories that do not correspond to kin terms they are familiar with, or that their consultants do not have a term for, encourage the students to make up a kin term (you may find this useful for people are thought to be kin but are not related by ties of blood or marriage).
Once the chart is completed upload a picture and discuss the kin relationships that exist within that family.
