Assignment:
Part 1:
Your post should be at least 200 to 250 words in length and should extend the discussion of the group supported by your course materials and/or other appropriate resources.
Taking an introductory psychology class helps you to gain insights into several different areas of human behavior and mental processes. In this unit, you are looking at the foundations or the building blocks of psychology. Theories are attempts to explain and predict behaviors or events by using organizing principles and observations. Theories lead to hypotheses which lead to research and observation.
• Describe a subject that you would like to know more about that is related to psychology. For example, how people can pay attention better, or what could help people make better eating choices.
• Considering the different research methods described in your text, choose one that you think would be best suited for studying your topic (i.e. naturalistic observation, surveys, correlational studies, experiments, case studies). Explain your reasoning for this choice.
• Discuss ethical considerations that you would have to keep in mind with your research study. Referencing the APA ethics code in your text, which of the principles mentioned would be important to keep in mind for your study?
1. Please make sure to address ALL parts of the questions. There are multiple parts each week. Answering ALL parts will ensure you a better grade.
2. Use separate paragraphs for each part of the answer. Simply hit "enter" 2 times to start a new paragraph. This will help organize your reply. So, if there are 3 parts to the question, you should have 3 paragraphs in your reply.
The APA ethics code urges researchers to (1) obtain human participants' informed consent before the experiment, (2) protect them from harm and discomfort, (3) keep information about individual participants confidential, and (4) fully debrief people (explain the research afterward). Moreover, university ethics committees screen research proposals and safeguard participants' well-being.
You MUST include a credit (an in-text citation and end of post full reference) for the course materials (and any other source you use) in your posts.

Part 2:
Organizing the parts of your main DQ post helps you cover all parts. So, please make sure to use some type of organization, such as color, underlining, headings, etc. It also helps to use the key term(s) from the question in your answer to help you focus on the objectives.
See below for organization ideas and TIPs....

By increasing your understanding of theories that attempt to describe how your brain works, it is helpful to consider what you were born with and how your world has shaped you. You are, after all, not just a product of our brains and our bodies. In this you will delve deeper into how your thinking and behavior is impacted by nature and nurture influences.

• Discuss the impact of heredity (nature) and environment (nurture) on a person.
• Describe how evolutionary psychologists use natural selection to explain behavior tendencies. Do you agree with this? Why or why not?
