Assignment: Mental Health
• Identify a social welfare policy that is relevant to mental health (on the federal or/and state level or local level in the United States or globally (UN or WHO) in relation to the chosen topic.
• Analyze the policy through four types of policy analysis (from the textbook)
The policy that you choose for analysis should be related to the subtopic assigned to you or the group topic. Subtopic is elderly and topic mental health.
Types of analyses:
o content analysis (problem definition, intention, goals, means);
o choice analysis (other options);
o types of benefits (form of benefits - cash, in-kind, services, etc.);
o delivery structure (how benefits of the policy delivered);
o comparative (other countries);
o historical (precedents of similar policies in the past) also;
o process (how policy is implemented);
o logical evaluation (consistency of multiple goals);
o social problem analysis.
• Discuss the forces (overt and covert) that promoted the policy.
• Examine the policy through the ethical framework of the social work paradigm (social work values).
Format your assignment according to the following formatting requirements:
o The answer should be typed, using Times New Roman font (size 12), double spaced, with one-inch margins on all sides.
o The response also includes a cover page containing the title of the assignment, the student's name, the course title, and the date. The cover page is not included in the required page length.
o Also include a reference page. The Citations and references must follow APA format. The reference page is not included in the required page length.
