The Aakash Tablet Project Disaster
Akash Tablet, a product launched by the Indian government, was a big failure. The tablet is known to be the world's cheapest tablet. Akashtablet was launched in India for the development of educational system of India. Here are some words from Kapil Sibbal before the launch of product - "Soon a $35 computer will be available for every student of school. The tablet will improve the quality of learning of children."
The tablet was introduced officially on October 5, 2011 in New Delhi as Aakash. A British organization named Data Wind produced the Ubislatebut it is being made by Quad, a company based in India.
Main intention behind introducing Aakash
Aakash was created to connect 400 universities and 25 thousand colleges as part of its e-learning initiative. Initially, it was supposed to be sold for 35 dollars but its selling price increased to $50.
The product is expected to be provided to the students at free of cost.

Role of IIT Rajasthan in Aakash project
Datawind has placed majority of the blame of the failure of Aakash on IIT Rajasthan that had been entrusted with monitoring the entire project. The firm has stated that the IIT projected great concern regarding the functional capability and overall capability of the product in order to assist other companies.
Tuli has stated that when they won the contract they were only given a specification sheet and has termed the methods employed by IIT Rajasthan for testing the product as lacking in scientific logic and impartiality. He has stated that the issues created by the institute meant that they lost out on six months' time on the project. He has further emphasized that the organization is still trying to delay the project.-SCOPE MANAGEMENT
Main problems of Aakash

Regular interruption in system operation
Poor quality of sound
Lack of support for every format
Absence of installation facilities in case of free software that is available on the net

Why Akash Tablet is a failure?
No earphones and other accessories. No external speaker support.
Tablet has 336 MHz processor which is not enough to run an android device.

Low battery backup. 180 hours for standby
Touch screen quality is not so good. It's very resistive.
Screen resolution is not so good and even reflects the light.
Tablet does not have Bluetooth connectivity.
It has USB ports but you are unable to connect USB dongle.
No upgrade for hardware's.
No app market.
Old version of operating system. Android 2.2
Back of tablet is full of company advertisement.
