a) Discuss the disenfranchisement, or efforts to eliminate African American voters, in the New South (1875-1900) and compare and contrast with the experience of "new immigrants" in northern cities during the same time period.
b) Did Social Darwinism contribute to the treatment of Native Americans by the U.S. government in the West in the second half of the 19th C? Use evidence to support your thesis.
