Q: What is your opinion on the paragraph below.
A project manager has several roles within their responsibilities as many projects can be small in scope to large scale enterprise level projects for fortune five hundred companies. Therefore, project managers must be able to take mission statements related to their project and align their efforts to both their project team and respective stakeholder. In order to do so communication and leadership are both qualities that translate to effective project management roles. For example if a project is nearing an important milestone and a team member is unable to provide the required data needed for the milestone. Then the project manager must take the lead and appropriately communicate and obtain the missing piece of data. According to Toth (2011) "One of the areas, that can benefit from project leadership good practices, is in team building. Project leaders must assess each team member‘s capability, and create efficient project teams from a group of individuals in a relatively short time."(Toth, 2011, pg.14) Hence this translates to the importance of how a project manager selects a project, depending on the scope of the project. The project manager should begin by analyzing project team member skill sets that would enhance and or compliment in providing solutions for the project. For example if the project involves improving an existing electronic health records system to reduce the amount of billing and communications errors of a particular health care service provider practice. Then the project manager would benefit by including a team member who has technical experience in information systems and a team member familiar with medical billing codes. According to Kloppenborg (2013) "While there are many project manager requirements, some of the technical needs can probably be delegated, but every project manager needs integrity, leadership, and communications skills."(Kloppenborg, 2013, p.70)
