Problem:
What Jarrett Adams means by this is that this system has a bad track record with wrongful convictions due to bias that are held depending on what race you are or what neighborhood you are from. Due to the experience he had gone through, he has seen an unfortunate series of events that all happen to coincide with the way this criminal justice system is ran. "In the country we have two criminal justice systems- the one you can afford and the one you can't" (Adams 2021). This statement really stood out to me; it's very simple but has a complex meaning. This system is incredibly expensive, regardless of what crime you have. However, when you are in the class that can afford the attorneys and the time, you get better advice and a better outcome. That's one of the key points Adams was trying to make throughout these chapters; he wish he had known more about his situation.
