For this discussion, let's think about Karbala. What are the definitive aspects of this event that make it especially significant?
For a Shi'i representation of Karbala, please consider the videos below. These are examples of the noha genre of lamentations over Husayn and his family. The videos feature images of the shrines of Husayn and his brother 'Abbas (son of 'Ali and Umm al-Banin, whom 'Ali married after Fatima's death) in Karbala, which are major sites of Shi'i pilgrimage. The third video is "The Prayer of Fatima." How does the song construct a relationship between Fatima and Shi'i communities? How do the artists envision their connection to Fatima? Refer to at least one specific verse in each song.
