Assignment Task: There are several ways a company may conduct supply research. There are three different research jobs to consider, full-time, part-time, and cross-functional teams. (Johnson, 2020) A full-time status allows individuals to analyze data and collect information more accurately on the research being conducted. The disadvantage to someone conducting research full-time is that it is very time-consuming, tying up individuals within an organization that could be doing something else. The second would be a part-time research job. This job is helpful to the organization for analyzing data briefly but also allows for other aspects of a job to be considered instead of allowing so much time to research development. The third would be cross-functional teams, which allow multiple teams to split up and move to different locations. It also brings in more information and ideas. A disadvantage to cross-functional teams is too many hands in the research. This makes it hard to identify a possible mistake and understand where the mistake came from.
For a small organization, I would recommend utilizing part-time research. Other aspects of the job may demand more attention, and research can be time-consuming. I would recommend potentially having full-time or cross-functional teams for a medium organization. This may depend on the current market trends and what research needs to be conducted to determine which would be best. Lastly, for a large organization, I would recommend cross-functional teams. One main reason companies are utilizing cross-functional teams is that the business world is becoming more complicated. (Jansson & Persson, 2020)
This allows for more information from extensive research through multiple channels, which leads to more being accomplished and different ideas being brought to the table.
