This method pulls from data that is rooted in a theory through the findings of research. In the case of affordable housing, this theory can be put in terms of qualitative data that is used to gauge a diverse population of interactions and challenges with attaining housing that is safe, stable, and most of all affordable. Experiences that are used as a tool to dissect this social crises, while also gaining a perspective using quantitative research like income, age, and relevant statistics can broaden the topic.
