A present-day issue in Peru that encompasses the healthcare sector is the lack of services provided and infrastructure to assess the population needs. Theirs a region of Peru where the population is isolated and seeking medical attention means traveling an extensive distance. To overcome this challenge the regional government took on aid to build a new hospital. In Peru, the cultural norms for seeking medicine are traditional which means natural resources. Being isolated in a remote area the population relies on its own elements for healing. Another impact comes from the traditions of work and how may live from agriculture, fishing, or hunting. These types of work do not provide enough money for healthcare coverage which means many people are not consulting with a physician. As of 2009, the Universal Health Insurance Law was implemented and in 2013 there was a reform package. The population with health coverage grew since this law was introduced and it addressed the concerns around quality healthcare services. When the reform package was developed in 2013 it helped Peruvians access these services and it was a result of equal participation from all parties. Additional factors that contribute to the downfall of healthcare in the remote areas is poverty and sanitation. Living conditions in underdeveloped countries are a challenge in their own eventually leading to diseases.
