In this module, you learned about the disorders from four separate diagnostic categories: neurodevelopmental disorders; disruptive, impulse-control, and conduct disorders; elimination disorders; and schizophrenia spectrum and other psychotic disorders. Neurodevelopmental disorders and elimination disorders are usually first diagnosed in infancy, childhood, or adolescence. Additional diagnoses often made earlier in development are disruptive, impulse-control, and conduct disorders. On the other hand, diagnoses such as schizophrenia and other psychotic disorders typically start in early adulthood and are usually chronic. It is important to note, however, that all of the categories of disorders result in some level of functional impairment in the individuals diagnosed. Understanding the criteria, as well as the similarities and differences among disorders, is an important component of the diagnostic process.

• Choose a minimum of two disorders from one or two of the diagnostic categories reviewed in this module.
• Compare and contrast the symptoms (i.e., duration, severity, and frequency) and developmental and cultural considerations.
• Discuss potential treatment options for the disorders chosen.
Support your rationale and analysis by using at least two resources from professional literature in your response.
The response should include a reference list. Double-space, using Times New Roman 12 pnt font, one-inch margins, and APA style of writing and citations.
