Discuss possibilities in philosophy

Assignment task:

Doubt opens up the mind to other possibilities in philosophy and frees you from previous conceived prejudices (Russell 1912).  The goal behind philosophy is simply acquiring more knowledge (Russell 1912). As the author Bertrand Russell has put into words "Philosophy, though unable to tell us with certainty what is the true answer to the doubts which it raises, is able to suggest many possibilities which enlarge our thoughts and free them from the tyranny of custom" (1912). This means that while philosophy might not give us an answer to our questions, it allows as to think freely outside of preconceived notions from our past experiences. Being able to not pigeonhole oneself into prior thoughts can be liberating for the mind, as you're able to think for yourself and from the knowledge you have obtained opposed to the knowledge that has been bestowed upon you from others.

As someone who is religious (though I've slowly became one of those Christians who attends only during the holidays), I found that having doubts at first was concerning. But, as I learned more from other religions or lack thereof, I found more comfort in my own with my doubts as counterintuitive that might seem. Part of this is due to how many similarities exist between different denominations and religions. Even when looking at the whole idea of creation, and the more "scientific" approaches and the theories connected to it there are connections to religion if thinking about it in a more open-minded perspective. And even when looking from a directly atheistic viewpoint with creation and the possibility we ceased to exist after death, I would joke with my friend "if i was wrong, nobody would know".
