1. It was my 17th birthday, and my parents had planned a special dinner for me. My favorite food was on the menu, and they had even got a cake for me. I was really looking forward to the evening. As soon as I sat down at the table, my parents started to tell me how proud they were of me. They told me how much I had grown up over the past year even though it wasn't the best year for me, and how they knew I was going to do great things in the future because of how strong I was and how they saw me push through all of the obstacles thrown at me. I was so touched by their words, and I will always remember that dinner as one of the best nights of my life.
