The text I have decided to summarize is "Nonacademic Effects of Homework in Privileged, High-Performing High Schools" by Mollie Galloway, Jerusha Conner, and Denise Pope. This academic journal discusses a study to determine the relationship between the amount of homework assigned to students and nonacademic factors (ex., their behavioral engagement or well-being). The journal acknowledges previously collected information on the assignment and its impact on academic aspects from previous studies. This study was conducted on 4,317 students sampled from ten elite high schools in upper-class communities and asked to complete a survey. The survey's results showed that students who spent more time on homework were more likely to be behaviorally engaged in school but more likely to experience physical symptoms of stress and spend less time with family and friends or doing extracurriculars.
