Purpose of this assignment: The purpose of this assignment is to unpack what managing innovation looks like in practice and to demonstrate that you understand what key drivers are and future challenges. To achieve this, you will need to choose two organisations, study these organisations, discuss and debate their approach to managing innovation and produce a report based on your findings.
Description of the task: For this assessment you are asked to imagine that you are part of a consulting team of four people. You have been engaged by an investment bank who has been approached to invest in two companies, but before deciding about investment would like to know more about the two companies. The investment bank is interested in knowing about the organisation, the sector they are part of, how the organisation manages innovation, what the key drivers of innovation are for each of the organisations, what future challenges exist.
Audience for your report: Your report will be read by the investment committee within the bank. The committee consists of experienced business leaders who have varying knowledge of managing innovation.
Do not assume they understand the key concepts of managing innovation.
