Assignment:
Discussion 1: Reality Theraphy
Choice theory espouses the radical view that mental illness does not exist. This position might cause individuals to feel blamed for their symptoms and might even cause them to think counselors consider their distress to be imaginary or "in their head." What do you think of a contemporary theory of therapy that doesn't believe in the existence of mental illness? How might this impact one's use of reality therapy with students in schools who are diagnosed with mental disorders? In a few sentences, please connect your understanding of the theory with your personal reflections.
Discussion 2: Integrating Reality Theraphy
What potential do you see in combining reality therapy with some of the other therapies you have studied? Which theory would you most be inclined to integrate with reality therapy?
