Discuss identification and categorization of microbes

Problem:

The identification and categorization of microbes still heavily rely on their physical and biochemical characteristics, even while genetic divergence emphasizes the evolutionary links of those species. Microbes are categorized in fact based on a wide range of traits. Important factors include cell shape, motility, spore development, the structure of multicellular aggregates, and response to the Gram stain. Environmental factors can have an impact on these morphological characteristics, including the color and shape of microbial colonies, which are not always constant. Biochemical tests, such as determining the types of nutrients a cell may consume, the products of its metabolism, the sensitivity to particular substances, and the presence of specific distinctive enzymes, are crucial in the identification of a genus and species of bacteria (Anderson, Salm, & Allen, 2022).
