Question I:
Answer the below.
i. Describe the differences and similarities between Participatory Culture and Citizen Journalism.
ii. Share a video example of you doing Citizen Journalism or Participatory Culture. You can upload this directly to your chat. Explain why this is an example of PC or CJ.
NOTE: The video can be as simple as you describing what is happening around you as long it fits the criteria. If you don't have one, just create one to show that you understand.
Question II:
Review the concepts outlined on the Trolling For Power page. In your groups:
i. Define "Trolling."
ii. Talk about the different types of Trolls....you will need to Google this.
- Do not just list all you found. Talk about one or two of them each.
- When you talk about them, make sure to include the site name/url you got the information from.
iii. Provide two examples of trolling.
iv. Discuss how the concept of power relates to trolling.
Question III:
Based on the last few pages of the unit:
i. Identify some of the dangers of social media "filter bubbles" and "echo chambers".
ii. Discuss how the flow of information may be edited or censored by filter bubbles and echo chambers.
iii. Give two specific examples of filter bubbles or echo chambers that we can see in society. Do not give generic answers like "Facebook, YouTube, Google, Twitter". Look for specific examples. If you say Facebook/Google...what specifically are they doing?
iv. Provide two examples each to show how information in social media is personalized for YOU.
