Assignment: Management Theories in Practice Reassessment
Discuss how an awareness of management theories can influence the practice of management. Use at least three bodies of theory, at least three examples (and/or counter examples) of management practice and a critical reflection on a specific example from your own experience of managing/being managed. This theoretically rich assignment should demonstrate a critical and reflexive approach to the relationship between theory and practice.
Length: 3,000 words ± 10% excluding references.
Assessment Guidance for Reassessment Assignment:
1. Structure
• Structure your writing in a way that is clear and helps the reader follow your argument.
• Provide comprehensive, appropriate and connected sets of ideas that flow together well.
• Provide accurate references (e.g. Harvard style, number of journals such as web-based or other published materials).
2. Knowledge
Explain relevant bodies of theory and associated theoretical concepts accurately. Show good evidence of understanding of key ideas, concepts, definitions, etc. from a thorough review of relevant literature.
3. Application
• Produce an informed account of the relationship between theories and managerial practice.
• Consider how the theories explain what is or what should be going on in a managerial situation.
• Account reflexively for your own managerial practice and/or your experience of being managed.
4. Criticality
• Application of a critical lens to managerial practice.
• Provide well-reasoned argument.
Format your assignment according to the following formatting requirements:
1. The answer should be typed, double spaced, using Times New Roman font (size 12), with one-inch margins on all sides.
2. The response also includes a cover page containing the title of the assignment, the student's name, the course title, and the date. The cover page is not included in the required page length.
