• Discuss the historical context in which the Cherokee people were removed from their homeland. In your discussion of the historical context, define the terms as they are used at the time including civilization, heathen, nation and nationhood, and sovereignty.
• Compare and contrast the arguments of Elias Boudinot and Jeremiah Evarts against Indian removal. They both oppose removal, but they offer somewhat different kinds of arguments. Explain why.
