Discuss health care issues to make informed decisions

PEER RESPONSE

Rules for discussion Comments on your peers: As Mentioned, unless stated otherwise - you need to make a contribution comment on two different peers. Saying " I found your comments interesting", or that is was very nice! isn't what the purpose is. Please feel free to support the thought with a reference, or disagree with or challenge the thinking. This is a "Critical Thinking" exercise! I have often found information to counter a statement that many take for granted. Feel free to challenge your classmates or enhance them. Doesn't have to be a full response. But if you comment positively or negatively with some data, that is all that is needed (With a reference). This is what will lead to -------learning!!!!

Avoid using "I think" and "I feel" without any data..... That is just dinner table conversation! No title page needed. When addressing the person you are responding to DO NOT write their name, use " you, you're". You goal is to pretend like you are responding as if your me. ie. You forgot to mention how frogs cross the road. DO NOT SAY " sally forgot to mention how frogs cross the road."
No lengthy response needed. If the discussion has two parts respond to them both just like how the discussion is setup. Ie. Part 1 and part 2. No title page and do not double

• Tchissem Week 5

• The patient would first of all have enough knowledge of health care issues to make informed decisions about whether and where to seek healthcare.

• Once the patient arrives at the doctor's office, she/he could sit in a comfortable chair that automatically measures vital signs (pulse, blood pressure, etc.) while the provider asks initial questions to assess whether urgent medical care is required.

• The provider would have an IT system that could quickly bring up the medical history of the patient and enter any new information.

• After seeing the nurse, the patient would hopefully consult soon with a doctor for an examination and further questions.

• The doctor would take the time necessary to review all information before offering his opinion on whatever is ailing the patient. And he would communicate well with the patient.

• Ideally, the doctor could provide medicine or refer the patient to a nearby pharmacy.

• Finally, the checkout experience would be quick and easy with the patient receiving an electronic bill later to be paid easily and conveniently online.

Part 2:

I would choose healthcare instead of health care, because this seems to be more widely used, but there should not be that much difference between the two. By using one word instead of two, it gives the sense of one integrated sector rather than having two separate ideas linked together.

If I could design the ideal patient experience for a primary care doctor's office, I would start with the patient waiting time. You come in and you wait. You are called to register and you wait. You are then called to have your vital signs and height and weight taken, you are brought to a room and you wait. Your physician or nurse practitioner comes in and deals with you and you wait to then be checked out of the office. The time waiting is nothing more than a characteristic of the design for patient flow.

• I would like to the patients to be welcomed, brought to a room, have their vital signs taken if necessary and then have the physician begin the visit with them. When the Doctor is then finished with every patient, each patient should be able to walk out with instructions for the future.
Patients don't want to walk in to a crowded waiting room because they feel exhausted knowing they'll spend twice waiting than the actual time they'll spend seeing the actual Doctor. Patients want the process to also to be sped up, some practices make their patients fill out an enormous amount forms when they arrive. When the patient is happy and well taken care we fulfilled out duties as healthcare providers.

HCAHP is the focus on patient customer service. As a healthcare marketer the customer service is just as important as the overall delivery of care. Satisfying the customer in both aspects is how a practice can insure that these patients will return

I think one of the points where healthcare Managers and providers merge is the culture that is being created by both. The education, prevention and connection between management and care provider is growing and important issues are being created. Some important points in the merge are patient safety and privacy. Both management and provider are building a safety and privacy culture while treating patients. As well Healthcare Reforms are getting strong policies on it. For example, at my doctors office they have a educational TV at the waiting area. This TV plays a software that describe many illness and their symptoms and treatments. So I think with these devices at the doctor office the management is helping the physician and patients to understand and be more educated about their illness with out breaking any privacy.
Healthcare organizations must be led and managed with integrity and consistent adherence to organizational values, professional and ethical standards. The executive, in partnership with the board, must act with other responsible parties such as ethics committees, to serve as a role model, fostering and supporting a culture that not only provides high-quality, value-driven healthcare but promotes the ethical behavior and practices of individuals throughout the organization

Everyone working in a healthcare organization has to follow all the rules set forth for them to follow. The policy I decided to examine is ‘The Healthcare executive's responsibilities to community and society', part B where is states ‘work to support access to healthcare services for all people'. That is not always done because some people have been turned away because either they do not have insurance or the organization does not accept the insurance that the patient has. If it is an emergency at a public hospital, by law the employees have to treat the patient but that is not always the case. For example, military has Tricare and you would think Tricare is accepted everywhere but it is not. I have been turned away at a private hospital because Tricare would not cover the treatment. Studies have shown that hospitals are still turning patients away.

Week 5 Discussion 2

• Jamie Week 5 Discussion 2
Genetic testing services have been innovative and instrumental in diagnosing and planning for one's medical care. For instance, when a provider suspects that a baby may have down syndrome, the patient undergoes a prenatal test called an amniocentesis where amniotic fluid is tested to determine whether the baby has the condition or not and if so, the doctors and family prepare for treatment. Also, there are increased numbers of DNA tests performed during the prenatal stage in order to determine the paternity of a fetus. These tests, while expensive, have given us the abilities to diagnose sooner and treat sooner.

Technology plays a major role in health care. Most tests are usually carried out with the aid of technological equipment ranging from testing kits to laboratories (Jones, Rudin, Perry, & Shekelle 2014). However, the kits and testing equipment have been overspread even to unprofessional personnel who lack the basic ethical practices in the field.
It is important to maintain patient confidentiality and provide the necessary assistance upon testing. Some tests require some form of professional counseling which some untrained personnel lack. Therefore, it is important for the government to regulate the access of this equipment.
