Discuss gregory batesons definition of information

Assignment task:

I got a question on Gregory Bateson's definition of information as a difference that makes a difference.

Are there any examples that illustrate the "difference" that makes a difference?

I have Heard of the blind man example: Is here the first difference: the presence and absence of contact established by the use of the cane. I mean it is a difference whether the blind man has a cane or not. By using the cane, he receives information based on the differences of the structures of the surface which he would not receive without the cane.

Finally this difference makes a difference for the blind man because he now knows how to adopt his behavior based on the information he received.

Or did Bateson mean something else by his definition?
