Problem:
When I used to be in school to become a sonographer and in my Breast clinical site, I once witnessed a concerning ethical issue during a routine pregnancy scan. The patient, who was already anxious due to previous complications, appeared visibly distressed. Instead of addressing her concerns with empathy, the mammographer who was cross trained to become sonographer conducting the exam seemed rushed and dismissive. She used complex medical terminology without providing any explanation, leaving the patient confused and worried. When the scan ended, she turned to me for clarification and reassurance. However, I felt conflicted, unsure about how much I could say without crossing professional boundaries or undermining the sonographer authority. The interaction left the patient visibly upset, and I regretted not intervening more effectively
