Assessment Question: An Ethical Dilemma When Working with a Minor Client
In the case example, describe what you would do next
The client is a 13-year-old boy. The grandmother called to schedule the appointment. The therapist stated that the parents had to schedule the appointment to discuss the paperwork needed to get the parental signature to approve counseling services. The dad scheduled the appointment and brought his son to the appointment. The therapist asked about the mom and is she for her son to receive counseling services. The dad said she was, and the therapist talked to the mom on the phone for a verbal approval. After several sessions, the 13-year-old client mentioned spending time with his other dad. The therapist asked dad about another dad. The dad stated that the other dad is the client's biological dad and that he was an ex-boyfriend who is currently raising the client.
