Discuss - electric cars and hybrid cars are making comeback

Assignment task:

Electric cars and hybrid cars are making a comeback. According to a recent story on NPR, we have been working on electric cars for decades, not years.

So, why did they not sell? A movie entitled, "Who Killed the Electric Car?" is about the period in the 1990's when people could lease (but not buy) a limited number of electric cars.

The following article discusses the same issues and offers an opinion on why the electric car failed in the 1990's.

What reasons are given in the article as to why people did not buy the electric car?

Is electricity "carbon free?"

What is the average "range" of an electric car?

Do we have the infrastructure to support electric cars?

What are two criticisms of the author's opinion as given by people at the end of the article?
