Discuss Catering for EAL/D Students' Language Needs in Prep Class: Classroom Teachers Perspectives and Practices

Introduction:- The first national policy in Australia regarded both immigrants and natives as resources Hepple et al. (2014). This however has been countered by continued devaluation of the immigrant languages and negativity about retention of immigrants' languages in favor of English language (Alford and Windeyer, 2014). Early childhood teachers need to be trained on how to deal with the problems of students that do not understand English. However, some learners are able to cope up with new language and eventually unleash wonderful abilities with the new language. According to Miller et al. (2015), EAL/D learners are not disadvantaged or hard to learn as it may appear as only cultural links are likely to be their major setback in schools.
