Assignment Task:
The Beck Depression Inventory (BDI) and Beck Anxiety Inventory (BAI) include several limitations, including, the BDI and BAI depend on the patient's subjective interpretation of their symptoms, which may be inaccurate (Oh et al., 2018). The BDI does not account for additional factors that may influence depression, like familial history or genetic predisposition. The BAI does not take into account the correlation between anxiety and depression (Oh et al., 2018). The BDI may lack precision in assessing depression among individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds (Oh et al., 2018). The administration of the BDI can influence the final score. Social expectations may influence replies when the patient is requested to complete the form in a therapeutic environment (Oh et al., 2018). The BDI depends on physical symptoms such as fatigue, perhaps leading to inflated results in those with physical illnesses (Oh et al., 2018). The BAI has decreased sensitivity and specificity in individuals with MS due to the considerable overlap of its physical symptoms with those induced by MS (Oh et al., 2018).
