Discuss argument that philosophy is valuable

Problem: Russell, Socrates, and Janet Radcliffe Richards all argue that philosophy is valuable, but they may do so for different reasons and on the basis of different argument. What arguments do they make about the value of philosophy? what similarities are seen between their views? What differences are there between their arguments and positions? Which of these three views are most compelling?
