Discuss an argument about migraines

Problem: On page 381 of the chapter "Academic Arguments" by Lunsford and Ruszkiewicz, they show how differently a writer can discuss an argument about migraines based on whether the audience consists of experts or generalists (i.e., insiders or outsiders).  Beginning on page 173 of the chapter "Argument Beyond Pro and Con" by Losh and Alexander, they debate whether or not parents of college students should have access to their child's grades but try to avoid having a typical "pro and con" argument.  How would you stake out a position in this debate about grades that isn't simply "pro or con"?  How would you explain your position to both audiences (college students and their parents)?
