Discuss about the Single-mode fibre in short.
Single-mode fibre:
A single-mode fibre consists of a narrow core (8 to 10µm) and refractive index in between the core and cladding does not modify very much during the fibre. Due to the narrower core, such light travels almost parallel to the axis, therefore creating little or almost no pulse dispersion. Therefore, they can carry a higher bandwidth (up to 50 times more far than multimode fibre) nevertheless need a light source along with a narrow spectral width.
