Assignment:
You will post a 250-word reply to 2 classmate's threads. The reply requires a minimum of 1 properly formatted citation. Each reply must be completed by you, the individual student. Additionally, each thread and reply must reflect a solid Christian worldview through the use of at least 1 Holy Bible reference. Responding to a classmate's post requires both the addition of new ideas and analysis. A particular point made by the classmate must be addressed and built upon by your analysis in order to move the conversation forward.
Thus, the response post is a rigorous assignment that requires you to build upon initial posts to develop deeper and more thorough discussion of the ideas introduced in the initial posts. As such, reply posts that merely affirm, restate, or unprofessionally quarrel with the previous post(s) and fail to make a valuable, substantive contribution to the discussion will receive appropriate point deductions.
Social disorganization, "An are that delinquency emerges in neighborhoods where the neighborhoods relationships and institutions have broken down and can no longer maintain effective social controls..."(Bernard, 2015, 144) These negative actions/behaviors become one that the residents of the neighborhood begin to believe in and feel themselves (Bernard, 2015).
An article discuss Flint Michigan, not only has there been a major water crisis but the article states that Flint Michigan is one of the most dangerous cities in the U.S. and that is partially attributed to poverty (Hall, 2016). In many cities there is a certain level of social control that is no longer maintained. There is a lack in the interaction and involvement of the city and many times takes the citizens of the city to began initiative to encourage and prompt help on behalf of others. There is limited amount of action that can take place on behalf of the citizens that reside in a city. If it is poverty stricken and has little to no resources to come out of the poverty there will be little change in the neighborhood.
This is the second half to social disorganization, after living in poverty and realizing that there is no change, a sense of pride and hope is lost and there is a limited revered consequences that may occur for one's behavior. With this, individuals can take on the mindset of the community, which is hopelessness, despair and a dis stain for the future. This has been the circular theme for many communities that deal with high delinquency rates along with poverty.
In my own personal experience, I grew up in a city where the poverty and despair was split down the middle. On one section of the town, there were wealthy doctors and lawyers, and the middle there were middle-class and not considered impoverished but minimally thriving and then there was the impoverished side with ghetto's and mostly minorities. Although, there was plenty of money to go around the city invested their money in the areas that they desired and it showed. All the while, Community centers closed, and some began to deteriorate, the homes that were in the middle are not on the decline, and that is usually where some crime mostly settled.
The city has the choice to turn many things around but rather go around the perimeter and up keep those sections rather then fix and aid in the beautification and maintenance of the city. This would blur those lines of the "disorganization that begins to happen and create solidarity and growth.
