Problem: An 8-year-old child presents for evaluation of 6 hours of several watery stools without blood or mucus, five episodes of vomiting, and no fever. Urine output has been normal. Symptoms began approximately 3 hours after eating deviled eggs at a family picnic. Several other family members have similar symptoms. Past history is unremarkable. Examination reveals normal vital signs. The oral mucosa is slightly dry. Skin turgor is normal. Bowel sounds are slightly hyperactive with mild generalized abdominal tenderness without guarding or rebound. Rectal examination reveals no tenderness or blood. What is the most likely cause?
