Problem:
Thirty year-old man from Valencia, Spain goes hiking on the resort island of Majorca. It is summer time and hot. He becomes dizzy, and collapses. The emergency medical people take his vitals: BP 80/50, HR 155, RR 30. A CBC is drawn at the hospital along with electrolytes. His RBC count is 1.2, Hematocrit: 35. His electrolytes are all elevated. Upon physical examination, his pulse is found to be rapid, irregular, and thready. His skin is cool, sweaty and pale. His spleen is enlarged. Upon taking a patient history, it was discovered that he is actually born and raised in Greece, and that his family is from Greece as long as he can trace back.
