Fabricated in 1984, Burt's Bees is a company who utilizes differentiation strategies. Burt Shavitz owned a bee farm, creativity formed from a local artist who developed candles from Burt's bees wax and in 1991 Burt's Bees lip balm was created. What makes Burt's Bees stand out is the all-natural productswhich are developed and branding. Burt's Bees is global and represents the "greater good" business philosophy (Encylopedia, 2016). The unique development of products is unlike most competitors, thus giving Burt's Bees a competitive advantage.
Ikea is a company who utilizes cost leadership strategies. They are known for inexpensive but stylish furniture. Unlike other retailers they have do it yourself furniture which allows them to offer lower pricing which attract consumers.
