In many communities the community health needs assessment identifies childhood obesity as a top concern. This is indeed a tough challenge and one I think has to be solved at several levels. Parenting focused on promoting health within the entire family is key. We also have to have the support of schools through food service in addition to programs helping our children stay active. Finally I think communities have a responsibility to provide parks and areas for walking and play. There isn't just one answer to obesity - it is a reflection of our American lifestyle.
Is this a topic that has been identified in your communities? If so, what sort of partnership solutions do you see?
