Problem:
We have a large regional company with a network that supplies goods to cafeterias, grocery stores, and convenience stores in 3 states. The company has 5 separate locations and office complexes spread over the region and want to connect the five locations. The network infrastructure at the 5 locations have grown up separately and thus, there are 2 different network/transport layer protocols in use (TCP/IP and SPX/IPX). How can the company connect the locations that use different protocols together? How can it be explained that the company continues to use the 2 different protocols, or move to 1 protocol, and if the latter which one?
