Feeding habits of animals depend on the nature of the food consumed.

Herbivorous : When plants are eaten. Examples - Horse, cow, rabbit, apes.

Carnivorous : Feed upon animal flesh. Examples - Tiger, dog, cat etc.

Omnivorous : When plant products as well as animal flesh is consumed. Example - Man, bear.

Insectivorous : Eat insects. Example - frog, lizards, bats.

Mermacophagus : Feeding an ants. Examples - Spiny ant eater, scaly ant eater.

Larvivorus : Which feed upon larva and pupa of other animals. Examples - Gambusia, minnows (fishes).

Piscivorous : Feed upon fishes. Examples - Some large fishes, shark adn some birds like king fisher, heron.

Eggivorous : Which eat egg. Example - Some snakes.

Cannibalism : Which eat their own species. Examples - Scorpion, cockroach, snakes and sometimes tadpole of frog.

Frugivorous : Eat fruit. Example - Parrot, monkeys.

Grainivorous : Eat grains. Example - Most of the birds.

Soilivorous or Detritivorous : Eating soil. Examples - Earthworm.

Fluid feeders : Animals feeding on fluids, mainly from plants. Example - Male mosquito.
